Charlotte Campbell – the artist and songwriter chosen for the 2013 Summer Course

Charlotte Campbell is a 23 year old singer/songwriter with a quirky folk-pop style. She has been singing since before she can remember and began playing guitar at 15. Charlotte performs regularly in venues around North-West London and is a regular feature on London’s Southbank. As well as her confident performance ability, she is also a strong song-writer and has been composing her own material since the age of 15.

A graduate of the Brit School and current scholarship student at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance – – Charlotte hopes to follow in the footsteps of previous alumni and has been focusing on her music career; recording and gigging around London as well as busking to push her music out to new audiences.

Her musical career has so far seen her perform at Glastonbury Festival 2008, Camden Roundhouse and many other well-known venues across the country. BBC Radio 2’s Howard Goodall featured her on his ‘class acts’ programme (17 October 08) as one of the latest crop of superb talent from The Brit School. In 2012 she was also a winner in the Mayor of London Presents “Gigs” competition, in which she played at many prestigious olympic venues.

Tereza is a young exciting artist with a twist of old and new, brought up in the docks in east London Tereza spent most of her time by the water playing the guitar and writing songs. Her musical talent did not go unnoticed at school and at the age of 11 she was awarded gold as young performer of the year in Newham.

Tereza has always been around music as her family business is in the hospitality industry running a “Party Boat” she was exposed to a wealth of world music from every corner of the globe. This has led her to be influenced by many musical legends that her friends had never heard off. Some of her all time favorites are “Bob Marley, Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy, Tower of Power, Beyonce”.

Once moving to North West London she dotted from music school to music school finally settling down at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance at 14. Tereza says “After the four years at the ICMP my voice has improved and I have learnt to sing in many different styles, I think this shows in my new music and I see myself as a mix between Eva Cassidy and Jessie J.” Tereza is now looking forward to taking this year to perform her new album and to continue writing more songs.
